Ground Source Heat Pumps

Utilise ground heat with an efficient ground source heat pump.

What is a ground source heat pump?

A ground source heat pump is a renewable energy system that harnesses the natural thermal energy stored in the ground to provide heating and cooling for buildings. This technology works by extracting heat from the ground during the colder months and, conversely, dissipating excess heat back into the earth during warmer periods.

Ground source heat pumps are known for their efficiency, as they can provide up to four units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional heating methods.

What are the benefits of ground source heat pumps?

Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) offer numerous benefits as a renewable energy solution, including reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency, significantly lowering reliance on fossil fuels. By harnessing renewable energy stored underground, GSHPs can dramatically reduce energy bills, enhance energy security, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Furthermore, their low maintenance requirements and long lifespan make them a cost-effective choice over time, while also helping to mitigate climate change by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. In the UK, the adoption of ground source heat pumps aligns with government initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy technologies and achieving net-zero carbon targets, making them a smart investment for both the environment and property owners.

UK Government Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

The UK Government say, "Through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump.

Fossil fuel heating systems include oil, gas, electric or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).

This scheme is open to people in England and Wales."

If you are eligible, we will help you through the process of applying.
